By far the best budget friendly subwoofer for the $$!With the IX series subs you can get a banging set up that would satisfy most people without needing a huge amp or extra batteries. What you get for the $$ is insane compared to other entry-level budget subs; For example:- They have push terminals while other entry level subs use cheap spade terminals for cost cutting- The speaker leads are woven on to the spider- You get dual voice coils instead of just one for multiple set up configurations- Genuine pressed pulpy paper cone instead of plastic- Conservatively rated power handling (see below)I have a detailed ‘walkaround’ of the sub on my Youtube channel going over the features on it, hooked it up to my amp for some free-air excursion and pushed it to the limit! It took it like a champ and barely got warm. If you want to see the video search my channel: Valor_XI am an audiophile and a basshead and love making DIY setups to get the best quality and bang for the $$. Skar Audio delivers no doubt. You may see some haters online bashing the company but pay them no attention, let them pay 2-3x the $$ for a big name company. After trying these out in my car I knew they were the real deal. I even got DIY Skar Audio set ups in my restroom and living room being pushed daily and still banging strong for 2 yrs!

Was packaged well and looks like good build quality for such a low price point. Interested to see how long it lasts but at $50 it’s pretty much a disposable item. I’m 52 years old so I’m not going to work it like I would have when I was younger.I have an old 2 channel Jensen amp 2×100 watt rms, 2×200 watt peak at 2 ohms. Speaker is rated 250 watts rms, 500 peak, 2 ohm voice coils, so I don’t think I should be able to hurt it. I have it in a sealed 1.5 cubic foot box. I think a sealed box produces more accurate bass drum reproduction than a ported box but it still thumps hard with 50Cent, DMX, etc… It’s still new and stiff but it already moving pretty good.(2 days old install) I have it in the trunk of a BMW 335i Coupe so the rear seats fold down. But even with the seats up I could feel my sweatshirt sleeve moving (the arm on the armrest exposed to the rear seats) shakes the mirrors, rattles the trunk, need to foam tape my license plate or something, it rattles bad.

You’ve seen it here in review after review and I am going to repeat it. These subs hit hard and go low at an amazing value, you’ll be hard pressed to find subs this good in a similar price point. I’m running two IX-12 on a Rockford Punch 550.2 bridged, the subs in series and coils are parallel for a 2 ohm load in a 3 cubic foot sealed box. These guys hit so hard my teeth rattle, this is a result of the signal my amp is delivering but the point is; these speakers take the power and sound good doing it for a great price. I would not even question buying another speaker from this company again. ***UPDATE 6/8/19***After less than a year of pushing these subs hard, one of them has given up and fused the coils together causing me to go through a lot of fuses identifying the problem. My amp was popping fuses under heavy load for a while, then started popping them right away under signal. I believed my MOSFETS were fried and had an electronics tech buddy take a look, amp tested okay. Next step I tested the coils on both subs and one of them tested terribly low, and registered a resistance across opposing pos to neg. So for the price I believe I’m still okay with these subs if you’re going to respect them, and treat them kindly. If you want to abuse them spend some more money and buy a more durable speaker.

This is not a competition subwoofer. However, it’s a great budget sub with the correct amplifier and audio settings. My install was a budget setup. “Custom” box–13 bucks for a 1/2 sheet of 3/4 from the local Menards. Amp is a Punch 40 DSM I’ve had since the 90’s. 8 guage wiring kit I’ve had for years. Sound is solid, rattles the car like it should.

Bought these as part of installing a budget conscious system to my girlfriends car has a nice factory sound system just wanted to add subs for more bass. Was initially impressed with the quality of the surround and the come for such a budget friendly speaker. Wired @2 ohms in a prefabbed box i had lying around and these things sound great. Delivers a nice punch, much louder than i expected them to be and i still have the amp turned down to about half for break in. Overall really impressed with these

I have been installing car audio for over 15 years done, multiple bass competitions but I would have to say this subwoofer is probably hands down the best I have seen, heard, dealt with. I would 100% highly recommend mounting it in a sealed box I had it in a ported box and it didn’t sound that great. I am told everybody to get this brand of sub they will not be disappointed will definitely buy / stick with this brand in the future.

I can’t believe the sound quality from skar products… this $50 12” sub(in a 1.0 cubic foot box and 250 watts rms amp running it at 4ohms) hits harder than some friends K-comps and even a w6. I was just looking for a little thump to add to my factory GX470… and the bass knob is only at 10%!! Lol… I highly recommend this product and would love to hear one of there competition grade subs.

I had a bit of distortion when I first installed it but I was really pushing it like it’s a 4000watt system. Once I dropped it down to standard (not below settings but not higher) It sounded very good and gives the bass you lose from factory systems. My gf hates it. She know when it’s me rolling in cause my dame sub. I would definitely buy again.

Chose these for a 2005 Chevy Silverado extended cab install for an uncle. Really liked the versatility in ohm wiring that these dual voice coil woofer came with. Being an electrical engineer, I thought about the install from woofer enclosing wiring to the amp to the battery. Being the amp has a bridge option for 4 ohm single speaker option. I put each side of the woofers in series (2 ohm x 2 in series gives the amp a 4 ohm load) and will operate within its capability at 200 watts at one 4 ohm load. They look great! Let me make that statement. For the enclosure, which isnt very deep as to fit under a rear bench seat, they still cleared the mounting depth as needed, beefy looking and all. Loved that they have push button speaker terminals. So sad not even my home theater speakers have this to the level these have. Easy to run multiple wires into if needed. The bass they output was a good match to the type of bass we were looking for. Tight. Controlled, realistic and a great fill in. Uncle didn’t want all the boom and rumble the rest of us might go for. He likes 50s 60s and Latino style music, so that was the aim. Not to say a turn of the bass know can’t make them move, but he likes the sound uniform with bass presence. I am very proud of the overall sound of this system with the Kenwood DMX7706S with an amazing DSP on board, Jbl components and coaxials which creates an overall sound you would want to listen to till the battery dies! Highly recommended and totally affordable.

Great sub for the money. I have been a Rockford Fosgate guy since high school (1996), so to say that the Skar is better (for me) is saying something. I got a single Rockford Fosgate P1 just to add some bass to my stock system and it was sacrificed to the bass gods in 5 months. I am using the same ported box and amp and the Skar hits lower lows and seems to be more powerful. When I turn off my car it feels like I just used a deep tissue percussive massager. I am very satisfied with the performance of the Skar IX-12 compared to a subwoofer that was twice the price (Rockford Fosgate P1).
