Please read before buy.I am using Ring system in my small store. So I tested this system in my house.Honestly speaking, there is not much difference between these two systems. Instillation is very simple and convenient. I have been using it over a month without any issue. The thing that satisfies me the most is the camera. It recognizes people clearly even at night. And it never bother me with wrong motions. After a month of use, the camera in my backyard corner still has half of the power left. SimpliSafe KeyFob is very easy to use. Basically I use this to operate system. The door sensors do the job well and stay well ( my ring sensors are easy to drop)The plans:$10/month for a video storage-only plan$15/month for 24-hour monitoring with contact first to you, then to emergency services, including a cellular connection in case wifi goes out( I use this plan)$25/month for an interactive plan which includes monitoring and and unlimited recordings for up to ten cameras and the ability to control your system remotely. Here are some installation suggestions. Please make sure your network signal is strong enough before you buy it. If it is not strong enough, I suggest you use a bridge. Otherwise the outside camera will not work smoothly. You can first use your mobile phone to test the network signal at the place where you want to install it. Below 3 bars you need a bridge.Put your base in the middle of the house to ensure that each sensor is within a reasonable range. If your house is too big, you may need two bases. Please don’t forget your password. If you can’t tell them the correct password, they will send the police over. The police will charge after the first 3 visits.

Super easy set-up. The quality of the video feed is amazing. Works superbly and adding new devices is very simplistic.

The system is great overall and our family feels must safer. It’s a very modern and tech-focused system but has a few drawbacks.Pros:-The setup is done through the app on your phone. The instructions were clear and simple.-The video quality is great but can’t seem to pick up license plates even from about 20 feet away.-The cameras magnetically attach to the base plate you screw into the wall making charging easy. The magnetic mounts also allow for great camera-angle adjustability.-The cameras activate when it detects motion and the motion detection seems to work very accurately. It also records a video of the moment that can be viewed in the timeline.Cons:-The cameras must be within a good range of your wifi router or else it won’t connect or load the live view properly.-The live view loads very slowly for me (10 seconds+ at times even with high-speed internet), and I’m not sure if there’s a way to get that to load faster. There have been times when motion was detected by the camera we installed in the back when I knew there shouldn’t be motion during those times so I try to check the live view but sometimes it completely fails to load or takes too long to load.-The night vision on mine looked pretty terrible but most likely because I installed it too high under the roof and the infrared light might be bouncing off the wood of my roof and distorting the night vision. I reinstalled it a bit lower and will test again but I know the night vision quality can be very good since it looks very good for a brief moment after opening up live view.

I like the ability to know when doors are opened since I have a house with a walk-out basement. This system was easy to set up and install.

SimpliSafe has sold components of an indoor security system since 2014, but only recently (fall 2021) added outdoor security cameras, and those cameras lie at the heart of this SimpliSafe kit.SimpliSafe’s new outdoor cameras work only in conjunction with a SimpliSafe hub. The hub is included in this kit, along with two door sensors, a keypad, a keyfob with panic button and arm and disarm ability, and of course, the two included outdoor cameras. The price of the kit is $378, but if you buy the outdoor cameras separately, they’re currently running $170 each on Amazon, so the kit saves you money. I don’t know if there’s a way to get the cameras for less if you already own a hub and sensors.SimpliSafe is the Wirecutter consumer review site’s highest rated homeowner-installed security system. Though SimpliSafe offers a variety of relatively inexpensive monitoring plans, you do not need a monitoring plan. However, if you want stored access to video you will need to spend at least $10/month for a video storage-only plan.I won’t comment on the hub at this point, since it’s been around for some time and is well-reviewed in many places. But the video cameras are new, so here are my thoughts on them:1) You can’t use your NAS to store video from these cameras. They connect wirelessly only to the hub via 2.4ghz wifi. The SimpliSafe cloud is your only storage option.2) Camera comes with a Li-ion battery inside which powers the camera for 3-6 months before needing recharging and is easily removed for charging.3) Wide 140-degree field of view.4) 1080p5) IP65 rating–sealed against dust and water jets6) Good motion detection. Able to define active areas to monitor.7) Two different night vision modes. One is the standard IR black and white which lights up to 30 feet away. The other uses a spotlight to capture color views up to ten feet away–though this one eats up battery life much more rapidly.8) Video can be watched (real-time only) from the phone app without subscription.9) Well-built camera. Camera attaches to a rounded nub/stub attached via a screw to your house by magnet. It’s easily positioned on the rounded end of the nub. Mount your camera outdoors and you will want to put it up high so that the camera isn’t just stolen10) Camera is charged via a mico-USB cable. Can also be attached permanently to power via a micro-USB cable. SimpliSafe sells a 25-foot cable for such use. An optional solar panel recharger is also available to be mounded near the camer. Now a few negatives:1) Connections can be spotty and problematic. Need good wifi.2) Five-to-six hour recharge times. This is a good system. You need to decide if you want to run storage through an NAS or pay for the cloud. If you’re willing to pay for the cloud, this is the system you want. If you have a NAS and want to store video there, look for another system.

I can view motion camara any time from my phone. The system and service is as good as our professional system at Duck Camp and monthly service is less expensive. I highly recommend.

We’ve had the Blink cameras for a few years now and we’re really happy with them. However, I did want something with an actual LED light trigger for our main entry doors. Something that would give good color video/pictures even at night time. This simplisafe system fit the bill. Installation was easy, as most of these battery-operated systems are. No problem with connectivity either, which is always good. As of right now, we aren’t subscribing to any monitoring service. That might change though. I’m trying to figure out if the simplisafe smoke detectors can connect to the hub that comes with this camera set. That’d be awesome. My wife and I would be happy to subscribe to a fire monitoring service in case something happens while we’re not home. As for right now, we use both the blink cameras and these. Generally, they’re both very similar. They detect motion and start recording, sending the clip to the respective apps on your phone. These are a bit more expensive than the blink ones, but again I wanted one with an actual light for nighttime. If that’s important to you as well, I definitely recommend this set.

Only negative thing I can think of is, it’s hard to source additional outdoor cameras. Not sure why, maybe it’s me?

We replaced our Xfinity security with SimpliSafe, and I couldn’t be happier! It was very easy to install and set up, took us no time at all. The outdoor cameras are super clear, even at night, and capture a good-sized area, I was actually surprised by this, beats Xfinity hands down! I wish there was an option to buy the system with power cords for the cameras, but they are available, so that’s really not an issue. The keypads, have a nice feel, love the base station and the ability to adjust the volume. Since we like this ‘starter system’ so well, we will be adding more components as we go along.
