I purchased 3 of these in total for a few different clients. All 3 are very happy with it due to being fast on boot, programs open fast and handles all their typical needs that most average pc users need. Office, Email, videos, photos. It’s just an all around good snappy machine.

This small sized desktop packs a punch with decent memory including a T byte hardrive at an affordable price ($399). It comes with a wired keyboard and mouse but I had an existing wireless system that I used instead since I use my big screen TV as my monitor across the room. Its not 100% silent but the noise is whisper quiet. Besides being relatively light, to takes about as much room as a DVR or an an old VCR. I will definitely fit on a bookshelf. You get 4 USB ports in the front and I think a couple in the back. It also has a DVD drive in the front, but its the flimsy type of get on a lap top (but it works). It also has an HDMI port in the back for hooking it up to a your TV (which was critical for me, as not all lower priced machines have this port). This Dell comes pre-loaded with Windows 10 but has also has other pre-loaded software you may not want (i.e. 365 Office, MacAffe sercurity and other misc. programs). I had Best Buy Geek Squad do a remote service session to eliminate these add on programs, and then install Student Office (non-subscription), Best Buy Webroot security and make Crome (as the machine was relentless in trying to make you choose MS Edge as your browser. The remote session ended in a complete and thorough tune up that allowed the computer run at optimal speed (which was now very fast).Best Buy Geek Squad is a priceless yearly subscription for $99 for all those computer dummies who don’t have a clue on how to do the above. No question is a wrong one, as they will answer and fix any issue. This along with being able to schedule remote sessions for tune ups to clean up your machine, defrag your hard drive so it will always run at full speed.I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it for all those who plan on using it as is; without making any hardware upgrades. It runs fast and smooth and is dependable.

I knew before I bought this machine that it didn’t have a CD drive.I already had a portable DVD/CD drive that it didn’t factor into the decision making process.I needed a computer similar to the machines we use at work and this matched the criteria.I also have a Lenovo ThinkPad but wanted a desktop computer. The set up took no time once I connected to the internet and signed into my Microsoft One Drive account it literally set itself up.I have a wireless mouse and keyboard, however it did come with a hard wired mouse and keyboard that I used in migrating data from my ThinkPad to my Dell.I great product and would recommend to anyone who wants a basic home office computer.

I like the DELL INSPIRON 3880 COMPUTER as it has a small footprint, is quiet, quick and is delivered with Windows Pro. The Review unit has Intel (R) Core (TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz. 12GB Memory with a 512GB Solid State Drive (SSD) . Since the hard drive is Solid State there is no noise in operation. The Keyboard and Mouse are both hard wired. The DELL unit DOES NOT come with Monitor, Speakers or CD/DVD Drive. There is a front slot provision but no drive installed. There is minimal instruction supplied with the unit. One pamphlet of Regulatory and Warranty information. The other pamphlet is pictorial only of what the different inputs and outputs are identified and hookup information. The Keyboard and Mouse both used USB connections plugging into the rear of the main PC Computer chassis. The Monitor plugged in with a HDMI Cable. I tested with two different monitors. I hot swapped the monitors with no issues. Both came up automatically in 16:9 mode. The Audio connection worked flawlessly. The Set-Up and Registration was straight forward “ Follow the prompt “. After I used the computer a few days the DELL SUPPORT ASSISTANT showed up as a Pop up. This allows for a system analysis to bring the computer current plus correct any issues. I started the Analysis and the Support Assistant performed the checks. At the end this computer required eight updates which were shown. Choice can be made for some or all. I chose all and the update was completed. In the My Dell section the manual is available.I used the SDX Card slot to upload pictures. An error notice showed with a window to click for fix. There was also an optional photo app loaded to help sort pictures. Once I moved past the error message and the photo app I selected upload all. All ( over 1500 ) of the pictures on the card were uploaded. The screen stays white during the transfer process. A notice is received when the transfer is completed. The card slot is right in front and very convenient. It is a push in/ push out usage slot.So far I like the computer very much. It is responsive. It works. It has NOT presented any problems. The DELL Support Service function has been automatic and worked without issue or fail. There have been no problems after the updates. I have no reason not to like this system….it works as advertised!Recommended Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ StarThank you for looking at my review. I was amazed at how fast and easy it was to get this PC up and running. Apparently it was able to determine that I use Windows OneDrive, so that when I powered it up, it automatically installed all of my data, my wallpaper and desktop. I had fully expected to spend several days restoring all of this from my external data backup drives, but it wasn’t necessary. As far as daily operation is concerned, this PC is very fast at loading applications and data files.

I needed a new desktop and everyone I know that is anyway connected to IT said get a Dell. I am happy I did. It boots up fast and has more than enough speed and memory to do what I need for both home and a small business home office. Overall a great computer for the price!

I ordered this Dell for my daughter’s virtual classroom as an upgrade from the Chromebook she was using. I’m a PC guy myself, and she also wanted to run Minecraft Java Edition, so…Win10 was necessary.CONSTRUCTIONThe enclosure is as advertised – it’s smaller than a typical Mini ATX, and could even fit on a 12″ deep bookshelf if you didn’t mind squishing the cables on the back slightly. The side panel is attached with two captured knurled thumbscrews for tool-free removal. On the inside, you can see how they achieved the space savings. There’s only one full-length PCIe and one short PCIe slot. I’m guessing the second one is for a second SSD, because here’s something kinda quirky: although the back plane appears to have four removable dust screens (you know, for four expansion cards), only the one adjacent to the blue PCIe slot is actually removable. If you look closely at the photos, you can see this. For today’s non-CAD, non-rendering workstations, this is actually a good thing, because it allows for significant manufacturing cost reductions while allowing for the most common upgrades, more storage space and an upgraded graphics card. Likewise, only having two memory slots is perfectly suitable to most configuration scenarios for this box, because of the high capacity of today’s DIMMs (memory modules). Why pay for slots you don’t need? One thing I was a little surprised about, as otherwise this box looks to be configured for office use, is the lack of a physical speaker. There are TRRS ports on the front and back (TRRS, or tip-ring-ring-sleeve, can accept and auto-detect headphone, microphone, or combination headsets in a single jack), and built-in Bluetooth, so I’m guessing that most users are expected to use either wired or wireless external speakers and mic.The built-in Wi-Fi adapter works on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectra, and seems to get similar signal reception to my external-antenna Wi-Fi card on the other PC in the room, so the antenna configuration is good. I do have it on top of a desk, so there’s not a lot of obstruction, but it’s doing fine about 25′ and one floor away from the access point. As for processing power, you’re getting a single CPU with 12 cores, so you’re probably good for most of the tasks you’re going to throw at this thing, unless you’re into bitcoin mining or something else, but if you are, I’m sure you’ve done your research and know what you’re getting into. If not, well, that’s a discussion for a different time.As for video, you are using Intel embedded graphics with a single HDMI or VGA output – why you would want to use VGA nowadays is beyond me. I got an HDMI to DVI converter and have it hooked up to a trusty Acer 24″ LED-LCD running 1920×1280 with no problems at all.One other thing that was striking to me was that the PSU is on the bottom of the case, instead of the typical top. I always thought the PSU went on the top to keep heat from rising into the cards/CPU area above, but this one is enclosed and ventilated straight out the back, so you get a little better balance with the weighty power electronics at the base instead of the top. Nice idea, really, just new to an old guy like me who is used to 800W power supplies on Full ATX cases from the 1990s.OPERATIONBoot-up is via a physical round button on the front. All the exernal LEDs are cool white, adding a modern and distinctive feel. There is no noise on startup – the only fans in the unit are for the CPU and PSU, and neither powers to full on boot. In fact, I haven’t heard them at all yet.Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections went without a hitch. There were a few Windows updates, but nothing out of the ordinary (Feature Update 1909 hadn’t been installed, that was the big one), and they all ran without errors. Finally, there’s some typical bloatware like McAfee, which I personally always delete, and built-in-but-removable Windows stuff like Mail which I eschew for Outlook (work) or Gmail (personal), and the ever-present prompt to subscribe to Office365 – but all in all, not a lot, so thanks to Dell for that.SUMMARYThis is a good little box! It’s more than adequate for all my daughter’s school uses, and would be a fine work-from-home computer for anyone not requiring anything truly high-demand (CAD, rendering, virtual machines). I’d get another one if I needed it. I might have docked 1/2 star for the missing speaker and quirky back plane, but (a) the speaker really wasn’t a big deal once I thought about it and (b) I’m sure the back plane decision was so they could use this chassis for multiple mainboard configurations.

I wanted this computer for a new tax return preparation software that would load on my Windows 10 laptop but not my then Windows 10 desktop (HP SFF reburbished). If I do not run the software on this desktop, I need to use a laptop. Undesireable! I suspected and hoped it would run on this Dell Inspiron. And it did and I knew it would because with the help of the software company’s technical support I was able to get the new software installed by the end of the workday Tuesday. Hurrah!
