I have used a lot of dive cameras for diving and most running into the hundreds being with a fire dept. dive team. So when I found this camera with a water proof case I could not wate to try it. I use the camera mostly for my jeeping trips inside and out in all types of weather. The 4k video is sharp and clear the anti-motion is so great my jeep maybe moving from left to right up and down but you would not know it straight and level. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for action camera and I have. You could spend hundreds but you would be wasting your money. GREAT CAMERA GREAT PRICE

The media could not be loaded.  I wanted an action type camera but didn’t need it enough to justify spending the money on an actual GoPro. For the price, I was blown away by the camera. The HD 60fps is where this camera shines the most. I also have gotten quite a bit of use out of the time lapse function, doing builds on different things. If you are looking for one of these cameras, buy it.

Update: I took the brave 4 snow wheeling with me. Video and pictures both came out superb.I received my Akaso Brave 4 yesterday, so I can’t speak to longevity, but I did put it through it’s paces today, and I must say I am impressed. This action camera was purchased for recording Jeep trips.  Jeeps are rough and tumble vehicles with noise, vibration, and bumps aplenty.  I will be taking this thing snow wheeling at the end of January, and rock crawling in Moab in May.  If what I saw today proves itself there, I would recommend this camera to anyone!I fiddled around with it as soon as I had the battery charged. I took some photos: photo quality isn’t great.  It is definitely a good camera, but most smart phones these days will get you a better photo with better light adaptation…  But that’s not what this camera is really for anyway, right? It’s for action video…I took some videos:The first video was inside the waterproof case, indoors, with low light and rapidly changing lighting conditions.  The camera handled the changing lighting conditions superbly!  Far better, actually, than my eyes did.  The sound was a bit muffled through the waterproof case, and in low light, it became a little grainy, but still performed far better than I had expected. The second video was with no case at all (though not recommended): the sound quality was very satisfactory.  The picture quality was just as impressive.  I even had my wife film me as I walked in front of, behind, and around our living room light, and my face was never shadowed or washed out by the video. From there on, I took videos in the Jeep, the Brave 4 mounted to the dashboard with one of the included attachments, and in the protective(but not waterproof) case. It surpassed my expectations. Though I could easily see the actual camera vibrating and bouncing around on my dash, the video is smooth. The quality is awesome, the road, engine, and wind noise introduce quite the droning rumble, but the camera still picks up music, and voices well. The only complaint I have, isn’t even a big issue. Fresh out of the box, and as soon as I peeled off the screen protector, the rear display screen had a little scratch that appeared to be under the lens, showing up as a scratch with a bubble around it. Also the edge of the lens looks a little peeled up. But seriously, it is hardly noticeable, and I would still be satisfied with this purchase at a rather higher price point. If it turns out to be durable, I would be happy to buy a couple more.Sadly, my cell signal isn’t sufficient for uploading the video, but rest assured it was very high quality.

I will preface this with that I use it for autocross. I am not willing to mount my iPhone on the outside of the car and I looked into this style of camera to see what I wanted to do. I originally thought about a GoPro, but price is one thing, but if it ever gets knocked off and run over… I will be upset, but I can live with it. I had previously bought a EK7000 on a Lightning Deal which I also use and then saw this Brave 4 on a Lightning Deal… and I could not resist.I had used it for the first time this weekend, and I use it with a RAM suction cup mount that I affix to the rear window looking forward so I can see the left front tire and the steering wheel. It worked great considering I ran it without the case and I should have played with the picture quality versus frames per second— I used the 4k resolution which is 24 FPS if I recall correctly… it was very clear and as expected you can see the slower frame rate. So I am going to try another setting and see how it changes the overall picture quality versus smoothness. But all in all it was really clear and exceeded what I was expecting it to produce. I manually started the camera with the top button…. for whatever reason I have put the remote somewhere I can’t find it…with that, it has a red dot on the screen on the back to tell it is running— honestly it lets me set it and forget it as I know it is running.Sound. That is where I expected it to falter and it did. Wind noise was prevalent and masked a good bit of other sounds I wanted to hear. With that said, I may try the plastic case with the vented back to see how that works to cut back on wind noise. I have used a $1000 race camera before and audio was not any better… so I cannot fault the Brave 4 one bit. You also have to remember that I am running with it on the outside of the car at 20-60mph… so some wind noise is definitely expected!Startup, etc. It is fast to start up and shut down. This is good as it is a great tool to have, but, I cannot stand fussing with it to get it to work before a run—and it is a champ at starting and being ready within a few seconds. I have it setup to never shut off and to loop video. All works great. I have also figured out (as a typical guy) how to work it without using instructions and it is great to use the rear screen to step through a run to review and see where I may have made a mistake or as I found out how unbelievably close to cones I really do come to them…in a great way!Battery… so this is where I am up in the air. As I said, first weekend with it and I used it to record a total of 10-runs that are about 2-4 min long depending on when I start it and then get in the car. I had charged the batteries the day before so I was ready to go. I have to really see how long it will last as after 6-runs the battery indicated it was at 30%… I changed the battery and finished out the day. Would have it made it? I am not sure. would I like to see it last longer? Yes, but again I have to keep in mind that for what I paid versus what it does…. this is not a problem or deal breaker at all and it *does* come with the two batteries, so for me when it gets down to 1/3 battery on the display… I will just swap it out and not worry about it. I will also say that the camera was on– display and all for close to 45-min to an hour so with that idle time added in, I am happy with it.I am very pleased and look forward to using it more this season!

The camera is really cool. It has a lot of accessories that I still need to understand how to use. It is packed neatly. It has 2 batteries, but no SD card. It looks like it is easy to use it, but I can’t tell till I actually insert the card that I am about to order. It doesn’t come with instruction, you’d need to scan the QR-code and download it in the language you need.

The media could not be loaded.  I got this sports camera to capture images and videos underwater. The water proof case works quite well. No water leak. The 2k and 1080p videos are ok. There is an option to choose the amount of video compression (quality). The audio is recorded at 32KHz sampling rate. It is much better than others that only records at 8kHz sampling rate. In the uploaded video, you can hear people talking even though the camera is inside the water proof case. The microphone is very sensitive. The 4 choices of angles of view are equivalent to preset zoom, but you have to go through several menu steps to change it.At power on, it starts recording automatically after a couple of seconds. This cannot be disabled. There is no separate LED to show recording in progress. You have to rely on the front LCD (after the back display goes to sleep) to know that it is still recording.I’m satisfied with this camera as a substitute for a more expensive GoPro.To give you an idea of the data rate. at the fine quality option:1080p, 60fps file shows as ~20200kbps for video1080p, 30fps file shows as ~14800kbps for videoaudio recording is mono, 95kbps, 32kHzThe available options are:resolution: 4k 24fps, 2k 30fps, 1080p 60fps, 1080p 30fpsloop recordinggyroscopeWDR (wide dynamic range)time lapsed recordmotion detectiondate stampangle: 70 110 140 170diving modespecial effects: night scene, portrait, lightpaintingself timerimage size: 20M 16M 12M 10M 8M 5M 3M VGAburst: 3 5 10quality: fine, normal, economysharpness: high, normal, mediumwhite balancecoloriso: auto, 100, 200, 400anti-shaking

Ok, so when I ordered this thing I was a bit skeptical. I was going on a Diving excursion in the Caribbean and just needed something cheap to capture the moments both above and below the water. My budget couldn’t accommodate one of the expensive name-brand action cameras (Go-P…) so I took a leap of faith with this one. Very happy that I did. When it arrived and I opened the box, I have to admit that I was not impressed at first. It seemed kinda flimsy and came with a bunch of mounting attachments that I STILL do not know how to use most of them (nothing in the manual about this!). LOL I downloaded the manual from the website and followed the instructions for operating the cam. It seemed to be pretty user friendly and provided a good picture and video quality on land. The real test would be underwater though. To make a long story short… I used this camera extensively on my Dive trip, both above and below water. When I got back from the trip I easily downloaded the pics and video from the camera to my laptop. WOW! The quality of both my picture and my video far exceeded my expectations! I was so impressed! I attached a couple of pics to this message, But they dont really give this thing justice. On another note… The waterproof enclosure kept this camera completely dry all the way down to 60 feet underwater. Nice!

The media could not be loaded.  Incredible value for the money.Great quality videos, acceptable photos, fully waterproof, good menu, plenty of accessories.** Amazon compressed the video. It looks awesome on my computer **Why did I choose the Akaso Brave?1. Akaso has a better website (and hopefully support/warranty) compared other action cams I see on Amazon.2. Olympus Tough TG-5 (amazing camera) was outside my budget.3. GoPro Hero was way outside my budget.4. Most waterproof cameras under $400 are mixed with bad reviews indicating leakage. This camera is with me & the wife right now in Hawaii celebrating our ten year anniversary! It has done a great job across several hours of salt water snorkeling, exploring beautiful pools, and adventuring in bamboo forests. The wireless was relatively straightforward so I could transfer the photos and videos to my iPhone easily. Here’s some extra stuff I bought:1. Flow by microJib … floating, extendable handle. Worth every penny. Best one I could find. Shoot waterproof diving light (works great; I have not submerged more than 5 feet underwater)3. Samsung EVO 32GB microSD4. Tekcam waterproof case (an extra, just in case, have not yet tested)5. Extra batteries (two original batteries have each given me about 40 minutes of good use so far, so I have not tested new batteries)When I need it handy, I store the Flow handle, my flash, and action cam (all connected ready to go) inside of two big socks. What don’t I like about this camera?1. No lens protector 🙁 so be careful to store your plastic waterproof case in a sock!2. No ability to buy extra cases from the manufacturer (had to by 3rd party).3. Included Remote control is not waterproof/submersible; there is no way to buy replacements from manufacturer.4. Not quite the same quality as GoPro or Olympus TG-5 (but close for most people, and costs much less).5. Photos: not nearly the same quality as iPhone or Samsung Android, but still acceptable.6. Less support, no user manual, etc. Here are some tips (for most people):1. See my attached photo for how to insert microSD.2. The screen will shut off to save battery. Tap the down button to turn it back on. (when snorkeling, for example)3. When in video recording mode, tap the down arrow to turn microphone on or off.4. In the menu, 1080 30 fps is a great high-quality video choice.5. In the menu, 5M or 8M will be decent for images/photos, for most people. (Larger values increase the storage size & print size).6. In the menu, turn OFF the loop recording, date stamp, motion detection, and beep sound. (for most people)7. In the menu, set Auto Off to 10 minutes (for snorkeling/ adventuring).8. In the menu, set Quality to fine.9. In the menu, play around with Angle. Wider angles can be more fisheye for objects on the edge, but wide is great for snorkeling.10. Yes you CAN delete photos/videos from the preview mode on screen. Hold the up arrow and push the enter button on top; you will be prompted what to delete.Overall I am super super pleased.Incredible value, easy to use.Great videos and acceptable photos. Lots of features and accessories. This review is sincere. If the action cam disappoints in the future, I’ll update my review.

Update: The seller contacted me after reading this review and refunded my money without me even contacting them. Awesome customer service 👍.This camera no longer works correctly. I used it a couple times on bike rides and now the “anti shake” no longer works and videos are very jerky like they’re running at 2 frames per second no matter what settings I use. It will also just stop recording for no reason. What a disappointment.

This camera is nothing short of amazing! I do not have much experience in action cameras, but this one definitely meets my standards. I used a GoPro on vacation last year and was so confused by the settings and making sure it was running that I didn’t really focus on what I was doing (which was parasailing). At the end, we got a good video with audio, but I was slightly disappointed in the video quality, I mean, we did pay 100 dollars to use it for less than an hour! So, when I was looking for camera’s, I wanted to make sure I got something that had a live-action screen, as well as a front facing indicator that it was, in fact, running. When I found this camera for 1/3rd of the price of a GoPro with similar features, as just as amazing reviews, I could not pass it up! This camera has so many accessories that I would be crazy to ever need to buy anything else for it. Plus, it has the waterproof case so we can take it to Hawaii this year! The video quality is phenomenal and all the buttons are easy to push through the waterproof case. There are tons of features to adjust your video and picture quality, the color it films in, the ways that you can start and stop video. It is incredible. I have been playing with it for an hour and still haven’t even touched on its possibilities. Did I mention the accessories?!? It even comes with two batteries and a battery charger so you can have one extra battery at all times without having to spend an additional 50 dollars on a second battery (aka GoPro). If you are looking for name brands that you can flaunt all over social media, this is not what you want. However, if you are looking for an amazing action camera that you can take everywhere and make sure you are getting good shots? This is what you want. Stop the research, stop the price comparing, and buy this!
